Today is our third wedding anniversary. Not bad...

In the past year, Julie's started her career, we've made a home in the house we've bought, and we've gotten two beautiful dogs. Lots of fun. No major disasters. A great year!

We recently heard that four couples we have met in the past have gotten divorces in the past few months. Most of these people were married for less time than we have been. And of course, of all marriages, the majority end in divorce. That really sucks.

We've certainly been lucky, but it's more than luck. There are a few facts I can immediately think of to explain why things are going so well:

• We love each other.
• We both like to give more than we like to take.
• We never go to sleep mad at each other.
• Whenever we yell, we usually end up laughing instead.
• We don't spend serious amounts of money without talking it over.
• We have good role models in both sets of parents.
• We're best friends.

So hooray for us. Here's to a few dozen more three year anniversaries.
