Time to mow the lawn.
Saturday, April 21, 2001 @ 12.57 CDT

I'm about to go outside and mow the lawn for the first time this year.

I am not looking forward to it.

Of course, before I can mow the backyard, I have to rake up all the gumballs that the tree has blessed us with.

I'd be more motivated if my lawn was one of those beautiful ones you see on TV. However, our backyard is mostly dirt and temporarily filled-in holes (which Maggie will re-dig soon, I expect,) and where there is green, it is mostly due to weeds and wildflowers. Unfortunately, I lack the motivation to work for the changes which will then inspire motivation. With regard to the lawn, I think this makes me simply "realistic."

Home ownership. A double-edged sword. Constant opportunities for selective pragmatism.
