Carl from Missouri Furnace showed up at 9:00 am Sunday morning and fixed the air conditioner in less than an hour, which included cleaning it out and talking to me about how air conditioners work.

I think the key to the quick response was in calling a company with "Furnace" in the name, but not "Air Conditioning." No one with a broken air conditioner is interested in a furnace company, but of course, most furnace companies do both.
