The big new television show this season is 24 on Fox. The television critics are all over it. The commercials for this show are almost funny; the glowing quotes from various television writers just keep going and going and going...

I like to have a few shows I'm really interested in, and I can't bring myself to watch something like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Or "Temptation Island 2." I thought I'd check out 24's series premiere last night and see what all the fuss has been about.

It's a great show. As I was telling Chad this morning, it has a few qualities I like in TV dramas: plenty of interlaced plot threads, some misdirection and paranoia, some fun editing and lighting stuff, plus it's got a really intense feeling throughout.

It feels like a movie. A spy movie. And I likes them spy movies.

The premise of having everything happen in "real time" doesn't drag the way I thought it might, probably because they have so many threads to switch to when Jack goes to the bathroom or whatever. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep that going for 23 more episodes.

Fox is showing the premiere again on Friday night if you'd like to check it out. Probably because they know that people like me will tell people like you that it's a good show.
