I'm reading the first Harry Potter book. Turns out it's actually very entertaining. I don't know why I didn't read it when it came out, but I think it had something to do with the fact that Everyone seemed to be raving about it.

I decided to read it now because Julie wants to go see the new movie. As I told Kelly the other day, I'm sure they tried to make the movie good for non-Harry Potter readers, but the fact is that the vast majority of the audience for this movie will have read the book. I bet the moviemakers will reward you for knowing the whole story; you'll see little interesting things that you wouldn't know to notice if you hadn't read it.

Plus, it's a fun story.

The good thing for me is that we have Books Two and Three on the bookshelf next to the blank space where Book One goes. I can just read them all straight over a few weeks and not have to wait. Then we can go buy Book Four...
